7 Things about Me

  • 1- I am from Hijaz, Saudi Arabia. 2- I am currently studying in the US & fully legal. 3- Since I am an alien (according to the law), I am allowed to make grammatical mistakes and endless run-ons. 4- I do pick sides and call them "educated opinions." (I am pro-choice). 5- I believe that the number one worst export of America is "McDonalds", best export, on the other hand, is "Individualism". 6- I am becoming more cynical and less optimistic by the day (Need a cure). 7- I can’t tolerate irrelevance.

Listed below are links to weblogs that reference Buthaina Al-Nasir on "Brainwashing" :

Wonderful video. But I am afraid that after so many years of brainwashing it is going to be extremely difficult to change things and to accept somebody else's way of thinking. Very sad.

northern shewolf

Brave, articulate and beautiful, this wonderful sister will, I fear, be made to pay a very heavy price for her incredible strength and the polite well-informed 'aplomb' of her responses. Would every Saudi woman take a page from the same book and your nation would really stand a chance to achieve true human and civic rights for all.

Rote memorization does little to stimulate independent free thinking. Restrictions on free speech do little to advance a society.

By the way, I found your blog today after reading Saudi Jeans. I will be back.

MiMi

Don't those SICK people have any other case to discuss other than WOMEN!!!!!!!!!!!

For god sake leave us aloooooooooone...

Rashad

excellent!

RIP Alien Memoirs.

Aya has given up trying to make a difference with her keyboard and has joined the Taliban's "struggle" against the evil infidels in Afghanistan, she can be reached via satellite phone at 00535678891007772 :)

Aya

Ya Dotsoon, Aya is in an off-keyboard status right now (writing in third person, weird ha!)

and since I am here, MeMe, your choice of being left alone is understandable, others, on the other hand, prefer to be engaged in issues that matter to them and you should respect their choice as well -simply put- you don't have a monopoly over Saudi women's concerns.

Eugene

Hi. My name is Eugene Gershin. I'd like to welcome you to Obadiah Shoher's blog, Samson Blinded: A Machiavellian Perspective on the Middle East Conflict.

Obadiah is a pen name of a politician. He writes extremely controversial articles about Israel, the Middle East politics, and terrorism.

Obadiah advocates political rationalism instead of moralizing. He is economic liberal and political conservative.

Google refused advertising our site and Amazon deleted reviews of Obadiah's book. Nevertheless, Obadiah’s is the largest Jewish personal blog, read by more than 100,000 people monthly. 210,000 people from 81 countries downloaded Obadiah’s book. The blog was voted the best overall in People’s Choice: Jewish and Israeli blogs Awards, received Webby Honoree and other awards.

Please help us spread Obadiah's message, and mention the blog in one of your posts, or link to us. We would greatly appreciate your comments at www.samsonblinded.org/blog

Best wishes,

Eugene Gershin

I'd like to know something.. if she got a scratch or a mole on her face, does that change her ID? or does it affect her way of thinking?
I mean.. whats the relation between human's face and personality? she didnt choose her eyes, but she chose her sight! she didnt choose her nose width, but she chose her favourite smell!

okay let me make clearify this.. when i think i use my brain, when i decide i use my brain too and when i believe i'm still using my brain. it doesnt matter if i have long or short eyelashes, and my beautiful or ugly face does not affect my mind/knowledge/wisdom/rights...etc.

how come we can know alot about someone that we didnt see his/her face, just from reading his/her writings? looks like "hawiya" or ID doesnt have that much relation to faces =)

please.. think out of the box.. face covered could be a security problem, not a hawiya and selfexpression problem.

Regards and respect,
Yuna

okay let me *make* clearify this

^
make* got in the middle by mistake,
sorry.. and have a nice day Aya =)

I salute her, women shouldn't be shut up all the time in Saudi.. its always such a struggle whenever they want their voices heard... she has set the pace and needs all the support that we should give her.. or we will fall back again to what they want, to fight women to keep them "in our place" as they see it.. its all about controlling women it has nothing to do with religion or Islam.. they made these rules in order to keep every movement we make they want us to ask their permission.. its purely just to control us women mind and body.. not to allow us to have a mind or an individuality. They think we should exist through them not on our own..

Amerabian

It is indeed a "victorious" debate for Saudi women, lead by an amazing news caster!

Abu Omar

This video does not reflect the current situation in Saudi, because CNN and other organizations did a poll on Saudi women on driving, the veil, and other issues and all of the results were contrary to this discussion in that women didn't care if they could drive or not and they preferred the niqab (the face veil). Presenting one side of the coin and making seem as if it is reflecting the situation in Saudi is wrong and provides a false image of women. Even the King's wife came out in the media and said that the niqab is a must! If you want to live in a progressive society then I suggest you follow Islamic teachings. As the scholar said, the majority of scholars consider the niqab as fard (compulsory). Surely they have more knowledge about these issues than you or I do.

Abu Jori

Where have you been?!. It is been so many months since you wrote anything here!
