7 Things about Me

  • 1- I am from Hijaz, Saudi Arabia. 2- I am currently studying in the US & fully legal. 3- Since I am an alien (according to the law), I am allowed to make grammatical mistakes and endless run-ons. 4- I do pick sides and call them "educated opinions." (I am pro-choice). 5- I believe that the number one worst export of America is "McDonalds", best export, on the other hand, is "Individualism". 6- I am becoming more cynical and less optimistic by the day (Need a cure). 7- I can’t tolerate irrelevance.

The Ambassador thing for sure, but I would include the spontaneous signs of support for Shi'ite Hizb'Allah that sprung in Saudi, one of the most sectarian Sunni places in the world.

The building of a wall at the border with Iraq has my vote.

On an altogether different subject, here is something you may find interesting:

We watched the first episode last evening, all agreed that it is very well done and quite funny. The CBC is becoming adventurous, going where no other broadcasters has dared to tread: I say bravo! About time too.

It is good you know that fact, if you had looked casually at arab history in the past century you would come to the same conclusion with or without the saddam execution.

I am interested in the as always, curious role that the Saudi Foreign Ministry is playing in regional affairs.

First, "sorta" siding with Israel in the Lebanese war this summer; ie, the condemnation of Hezbollah and the attendent Fatwas.

Then there is the juxtopostion of the public condemnation of the US invasion of Iraq with the summoning of Dick Cheney to Riyadh to tell him that he better not pull out. The Soap Operatic resignation of the Saudi ambassador to the US. The Washington Post Editorial. Etc.

The common denominator? Iran and the Shia "threat?"

well you can find some good articles, blogs at Alkhaleej Today

Thanks all for the comments. It might be too late for a 2006 post, however, I do have an idea for a future post about recent developments and important players in Saudi.
