What is the surprise? This is all according to Islamic jurisprudence.
Miss, the problem is Islam and this is going to happen till the end of islam. Get used to you. You are chattel in islamic society and the best you can hope for is to be treated kindly by the men that possess you.

Look who is back, the greatest provocateur!
Al,if you want Islam to end, then maybe you can start a genocide of well over a billion people. And speaking of Islamic jurisprudence, I told you before, your mediocre knowledge of Islam simply makes laugh.

"al-Miller" is happy to be a keyboard warrior. When any fighting happens people like him dive for cover and let others do the bleeding.
I tell you what, a "jihad" needs to be called against the people in the Muslim world who do things like this. The real jihad needs to be fought against the extremists in our own religion.

Al Miller, I see that your Jewish God has not yet delivered the infusion of empathy we all requested for you, too bad... How does it feel to have acquired the distinction of being the most closed-minded commenter?

Abu Sinan, I couldn't agree with you more. But there isn't enough manhood in all of Islam to stamp out the extremists. Maybe the women will get tired of the rape and the veil and they will stamp out the dogs of Islam.
Aya, You could look at the obvious all day long and not see it. You post incessantly about the absurdity (no insanity) of life in Saudi Arabia but you can't pull your head out of a hole and see that you are complaining about Islam and Islamic jurisprudence. You hate it so much there that you have escaped to a real world to live. If you deny this then pack your hiney back to SA and wait for the rapists, sister.

Every time I read al-miller's comments, I am reassured that logic doesn't work with extremists. And it even gets worse when the extremist is a shamefully uninformed and utterly ignorant person.
As the old Arabic saying goes: The caravan will continue towards its destination despite the howling dogs in the darkness.

Aya, I understand. It is okay to criticize the KSA and find fault with almost everything in it but criticizing Islam is risking death. Don't worry. I don't expect you to risk your life for your beliefs. In fact when you defend Islam or call me uninformed I take it to mean that you are saying "Right on Al. You say it because I cannot."
So you go ahead and continue to write about the schizophrenia of life in the KSA. I'll pop in from time to time to say that it is all because of Islam and you will protest that I am ignorant. Meanwhile you will continue to provide me examples to bolster my argument.
Deal?

Well, the real issue hasn't been discussed here!
What about the court case! Isn't that worth discussing? Is it too touchy, risking the criticism of Islam and its political application?
miller,
I believe Islam too should be discussed critically, but I don't think that's what you did in your first post. You were attacking, and the people here turned defensive right away.
Oh, my, I did escape all this. Damn whatever dragged me back.
Not to offend any of you guys. Seems I still don't have the special dtachment and impartiality it takes to keep a fruitful discussion going.
I wish you all the best.

Dahleez, you can discuss anything you wish. We don't know much about the case except what has been written in the newspapers and that's not much. Were you thinking about a specific angle ?

I couldn't quite see what the fuss about One Day was. It read like well written chick lit to me, nothing wrong with that, I know, but by the time I got to it post the hype and the word of mouth I was expecting something more. The film looks like excellent airplane fodder- I'll be there with my moth eaten cashmere blanket and anti-thrombosis socks - ooh I'm quite looking forward to it.
