7 Things about Me

  • 1- I am from Hijaz, Saudi Arabia. 2- I am currently studying in the US & fully legal. 3- Since I am an alien (according to the law), I am allowed to make grammatical mistakes and endless run-ons. 4- I do pick sides and call them "educated opinions." (I am pro-choice). 5- I believe that the number one worst export of America is "McDonalds", best export, on the other hand, is "Individualism". 6- I am becoming more cynical and less optimistic by the day (Need a cure). 7- I can’t tolerate irrelevance.

No No to Lingerie Law

Just like all other reform promises made by the Saudi government, they fail miserably. Apparently, it is too hard to implement the lingerie law, where men who are selling women’s lingerie are finally to be replaced by women. One might ask why? Well, the official response is that shops need more time to go through with the plan.

They are not ready yet? Are you kidding me! There are more than 10,000 eager women who applied for the new sales jobs in the lingerie business. What else do these shops need? They got the product, the location, and the potential employees.

Oh, it seems that I forgot the most important element of a functional and successful business in my country: The blessings of the religious institution. Damn me!

The religious elite are not happy at all about this new policy. The idea that women can go out, earn their living and sell bras is quite satanic and evil to them:

But even minor reforms have incurred the wrath of ultra-conservative religious leaders, such as the Grand Mufti Shaikh Abdel-Aziz al-Sheikh, who has denounced them as "steps towards immorality and hellfire".

So women of my country, don’t feel betrayed, you still have options:

1- Keep on buying your intimates from men. They are quite the experts already. Their experience would make them good judges of what color, shape and size that better fits you. There is nothing new about this option anyway.

2- Don’t purchase any, instead, make them yourself. Women should know how to sew after all.

3-Don’t buy or wear any at all. I have once heard of a Fatwa that says that wearing a bra is Haram (logic: it changes the nature of things) So maybe time has come to fulfill the wishes of the imams and abandon those unnatural-man-made-inventions.

That is just pathetic!

Well the shaikh that gave the fatwa on bras was obviously just expressing his opinion but that doesnt mean he is right, and what do the others have to say about his opinion?

I am a muslim and I would nver buy my lingerie from a man! And he shouldn't be selling them either! Rather why dont we all just buy online in the privacy of our homes while at the same respecting the law.

But as far as I know, what we wear underneath is entirely our perogative. The muslim woman is meant to look unattractive when in the outside world, as a protection for her dignity and honour. However, she should beautify herself for her husband ONLY and if she is a plus size, as many ara women are, then plus size lingerie is just what she needs to impress her husband. After all she is still a woman.

Pleasure to read this blog..it has so much in it..well done..

Its a real good posting..well done..thanks for posting..

Since it is so restrictive regarding sexy lingerie and the exposing of one's body parts, why not purchase plus size lingerie online and have it shipped discreetly? Years ago I worked at a store in Beverly Hills a d I had to cover the images of women in bathing suits for a shipment to Saudi Arabia.

Very nice comments....
